SB168 (Experian)

A California law, SB 168, helps protect identity theft victims by preventing new credit from being granted to a potential fraudster. This new law only effects consumers who are residents of California.

When selecting the SB168 product, Easy Access will send the appropriate keyword to request and display a credit profile that has been frozen for security reasons.

The SB168 keyword is only to be used under the following circumstances: The client has or had a financial relationship with the consumer/customer but receives the SB168 frozen file message when accessing the file. The client can then use the SB168 keyword to access the report, but must be sure that a financial relationship currently exists or did in the past.

These changes became effective January 1, 2003. To find out more about CA SB168 and how the security freeze affects your access to consumer information, please contact your Experian Representative.
